Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the process as instant-noodle manufacture and include several central stages, from flour storage through mixing, shaping, cooking and cup packaging. However, the response gives no clear overview of the process as a whole, and some details are inaccurate or unclear: the diagram shows noodles, vegetables and spices added to cups, not “packed together” at the same stage, and the final stage includes both labelling and sealing. The description also omits the finished cups emerging on a conveyor. The response is 141 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 150. To improve, add a concise overview and describe the stages accurately, including the final product and the full labelling-and-sealing step.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The stages are presented in broadly chronological order, and sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “then,” “In fifth stage” and “In the final stage” help the reader follow the process. This gives the response some organisation. However, nearly all the information is compressed into one paragraph, and the repeated use of “then” makes the progression mechanical. The phrase “After compliting the half way” interrupts the sequence rather than clarifying it, while “it” and “the mixure” do not always make the referent clear. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and the detailed stages, and connect steps with more precise references such as “the resulting dough” and “these discs.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “storage silos,” “mixer,” “dough sheets,” “dough strips” and “noodles discs,” so the reader can recognise many of the stages. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “the half step,” “cooking oil and drying is happend” and “packed togather into cups.” Several spelling errors—“manufactureing,” “transfared,” “compliting” and “vagetables”—also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise process verbs and standard spelling: for example, say that dough is “rolled into sheets,” then “cut into strips,” and that the noodles are “cooked in oil and dried.” This would make the description clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to link stages in longer sentences, using “and then,” “where” and “which,” but these structures are often faulty, and there is little variety beyond chained clauses. Errors in verb forms and agreement include “the diagram below demonstrate,” “the dough strips is moved” and “cooking oil and drying is happend.” Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “In fifth stage” and the long opening sequence joined mainly by “then.” These errors sometimes make the process difficult to follow, even though the intended order is usually recoverable. Practise accurate passive forms for process descriptions, such as “the flour is mixed” and “the cups are labelled and sealed,” and divide long sentences into clearer units.
