Student answer (Band 5.5)

The diagram illustrates the manufacture of instant noodles.

overall, the process consists of several stages, begining with the storage silos and ending with the final product. the procedure involves mixing, cooking, adding vegetables and spices, labelling and sealing.

initially, the storage silos is loaded into flour truck for transportation. these silos is poured into mixer, water and oil is added into the mixer. this mixture is passed throught the two dough, one is dough sheets and other is dough strips. these dough is converted into noodles discs.

turning to the remaining stages, the noodles discs are cooked with oil, then drying to reduce oil. the vegetables and spices are added into plastic cups. after filling all the cups, these are labelled by campany logo and discription of instant noddles. finally, these cups are ready for seal.

in summary, the manufacting of instant noodles is multi-stage process, different stages are involved for the preparing of final products.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the process as a sequence from storage to a finished product and mention several key stages, including mixing, cooking, adding vegetables and spices, and sealing. However, some important details are inaccurate or unclear: the flour is delivered to the storage silos, not loaded into a flour truck, and the dough passes through rollers to form sheets and then strips before being shaped into noodle discs. The account also says the cups are ready for sealing but does not clearly report the final labelling-and-sealing stage or the finished cups emerging. The overview is relevant, but the process description is only partly complete and some stages are under-explained. Describe the sequence more precisely and ensure the overview reflects the full start-to-finish process.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the stages. Sequencing expressions such as “initially,” “turning to the remaining stages,” and “finally” help the reader follow the general progression. However, the final “in summary” paragraph repeats the overview rather than adding useful information, and some references are unclear—for example, “these” in “these are labelled” does not clearly identify the cups. The transition from dough sheets to strips is also compressed into a confusing sentence. Keep the overview distinct from the detailed account, use clear references to each item, and connect each production stage in order to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “storage silos,” “mixer,” “noodles discs,” “vegetables and spices,” and “labelled and sealed,” so the topic is generally clear. There is some repetition of basic terms such as “stages,” “process,” and “cups,” while several word choices or forms are inaccurate: “the two dough” does not describe the sheets and strips clearly, and “reduce oil” is not a precise description of drying. Spelling errors such as “begining,” “campany,” “discription,” “noddles,” and “manufacting” also weaken control. Build a more precise range of process verbs and nouns, and check spelling and collocations so that the reader can identify each material and transformation without guessing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response uses both short statements and some longer sentences, and the overall sequence can usually be understood. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make parts of the process difficult to follow. For example, “the storage silos is loaded into flour truck” has problems with subject–verb agreement and the relationship between the silos and truck; “these silos is poured” also has agreement and meaning problems. In “the noodles discs are cooked with oil, then drying,” the verb forms are not parallel. Use clear passive constructions consistently for a process description, check singular and plural agreement, and separate stages into complete, well-formed sentences.
