Student answer (Band 5.5)
The demonstrated diagram illustrates how instant noodles are manufactured.
Overall, manufacturing instant noodles is eight- stage linear process that commences with the flour in storage silos and concludes with labeling and sealing the noodles.
In the beggining, the flour is storage in silos. It is mixed with mixer along with water and oil. There is a roller which is used to make a dough sheet of instant noodles. After the dought sheet, there is dough strips which is used to make length of the noodles. Once done with dough strips process the dough go through noodles discs which is used to make a shape like a noodles.
Once shaped, the noodles is cooked with oil and then it is dryed. Next, the cooked and dryed noodles is put in the cup along with dry vegetables and spices. Finally the noodles is labelled and sealed with company name and logo. And then instant noodles is ready to seal in the super market.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the process as beginning with flour in silos and describe the main stages through mixing, shaping, cooking, drying, adding vegetables and spices, and packaging. This gives a relevant account of the overall sequence. However, the overview says the process concludes with labelling and sealing “the noodles,” whereas the diagram shows ingredients placed in cups before the cups are labelled and sealed. Some stages are also unclear or inaccurately described: dough strips are formed from sheets, then shaped into noodle discs; they are not described as making the noodles’ length or shape. The final claim that the product is ready “to seal in the super market” does not match the diagram. More precise reporting of these stages would make the key features clearer and more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by the preparation stages and then the cooking and packaging stages. Sequencing expressions such as “In the beginning,” “Once shaped,” “Next,” and “Finally” help the reader follow the process. However, some links between stages are mechanical or unclear. For example, “After the dough sheet, there is dough strips” does not clearly explain how sheets become strips, and “Once done with dough strips process” is an awkward transition. The final sentence beginning “And then” also feels detached from the preceding account. Use more precise links that show cause and sequence, and ensure each paragraph moves smoothly from one stage to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “storage silos,” “dough sheet,” “dough strips,” “cooked,” and “labelled and sealed,” so the reader can generally understand the topic. There is some repetition of “dough” and “noodles,” and several word-choice or spelling problems reduce precision: “beggining,” “dought,” and “dryed” are inaccurate forms, while “make a shape like a noodles” is unnatural. Phrases such as “the flour is storage” and “ready to seal in the super market” also do not express the intended meaning clearly. Build a more accurate range of manufacturing verbs and collocations, such as “is transferred,” “is rolled,” and “is placed into cups,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including “Once shaped, the noodles is cooked with oil and then it is dryed,” and the sequence is usually understandable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. Examples include “the flour is storage,” “It is mixed with mixer,” “there is dough strips which is used,” and “the noodles is cooked.” The sentence “Once done with dough strips process the dough go through noodles discs” is particularly difficult to follow because its subject and verb relationships are unclear. Work on passive forms for process descriptions (“is stored,” “is mixed,” “are cooked”) and check singular/plural agreement. More consistently accurate sentence patterns would make the stages easier to understand.
