Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify the diagram as a manufacturing process and give a brief overview, noting that it starts with flour in silos and ends with sealing and labelling the cups. These points are relevant, but the response stops before describing the intervening stages, such as mixing flour with water and oil, shaping the dough into strips and discs, and cooking and drying the noodles. The overview also says there are eight stages without explaining the main sequence or transformation. The response is substantially below the required 150 words, so it cannot provide the necessary coverage of the process. To improve, describe the stages in order and include the ingredients and final packaging steps shown in the diagram.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic sense of organisation: an opening sentence identifies the diagram, followed by an overview that gives the starting and ending points. However, the response does not develop into a complete, logically progressing account. The final fragment, “irst of all, flor”, is unfinished and does not connect to the overview or explain the next stage. The transition from “Overall” to “irst of all” suggests an intended sequence, but the account ends immediately. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the process details, then connect each stage with clear sequencing language such as “Next”, “After this” and “Finally”. Completing the sequence would make the organisation much easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses a small set of relevant process terms, including “manufacturing”, “silos”, “sealing” and “labelling”, so the topic is generally clear. However, the vocabulary range is very limited because almost none of the stages are described. Some phrasing is also awkward: “stages includes for the formation to make” does not express the process naturally, and “formation” is not a precise description of noodle production. The fragment “flor” is misspelled, and “irst” is incomplete, which further reduces clarity. Build a more varied set of accurate process verbs and nouns, such as “mix”, “roll”, “cut into strips”, “cook”, “dry” and “package”, and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You produce a few basic sentence forms, including the opening, “The diagram illustrates the process of manufacturing instant noodles,” which is clear and grammatically controlled. However, the overview contains a noticeable agreement and structure problem: “there are eight main stages includes” should be recast, for example, as “the process includes eight main stages.” The phrase “It begins with storing flour in silos and end with…” also shifts from “begins” to the uninflected “end”; use “ends” to maintain agreement. The final fragment is not a complete sentence. Because the response is so brief, it shows little range beyond simple clauses. Practise accurate present-simple descriptions and use passive forms where appropriate, such as “the dough is rolled” and “the cups are sealed.”
