Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pictorial representation illustrate whole process of manufacturing instant noodles in various stages.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the complete process consist total 8 stages starting with the storing flour in silos cluminating with labelling and sealing eatable noodles.

At first the process start with storing flour in silos and then in very next stage the mixing process started with by adding flour, water and oil in the mixer. In third stage , dough sheets created with the help to rollers and then these sheets automatically converted into dough strips in fourth stage.

In step five, these strips shaped into noodles discs following this stage cooking in oil and drying process started and then in seven stage of the process vegetables and spices added into noodle cups which then labeled and sealed in last steps now the fresh eatable noodles are ready to serve.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the process as a sequence and report several key stages, from flour storage through mixing, shaping, cooking and packaging. However, the overview is not fully accurate: it says there are eight stages, while the diagram’s numbered stages run from 1 to 8 but also show rollers and the formation of dough sheets and strips as distinct process steps. Some details are unclear or incomplete, especially the transition from cooked noodles to cups, where vegetables and spices are added, and the final labelling and sealing. The response is also one word below the required minimum. To strengthen the summary, give a precise overview of the start and finish, then describe the stages in clear, accurate groups without adding unsupported details such as “fresh” noodles being ready to serve.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall sequence, supported by time markers such as “At first,” “In third stage,” and “In step five.” The opening overview also helps orient the reader, and the stages generally appear in the correct order. This gives the account a coherent arrangement. However, the final paragraph becomes a long chain of events joined mainly by “and then,” making the relationships between cooking, adding ingredients, and sealing less easy to follow. Paragraphing is present but the process description would benefit from a clearer division into stages and more varied linking. Use full stops to separate major phases and connectors such as “after this” or “once cooked” selectively, while keeping the sequence explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of process vocabulary, including “manufacturing,” “silos,” “mixer,” “rollers,” “dough strips,” and “labelling and sealing.” These terms are relevant and help communicate the production sequence. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “pictorial representation” and “readily apparent,” although some expressions are unnatural or imprecise. For example, “eatable noodles” is not the usual description, and “cluminating” appears to be a misspelling of “culminating.” “Shaped into noodles discs” is also awkwardly phrased. Aim for accurate process collocations and avoid overly elaborate wording where a direct term is clearer; this will improve precision without requiring a much wider vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including an overview clause beginning “Looking from an overall perspective” and a sequence of linked process clauses. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward. For example, “The pictorial representation illustrate” should have a singular verb, while “the complete process consist” also needs agreement. The phrase “the mixing process started with by adding” combines incompatible constructions, and “dough sheets created” is missing an auxiliary verb. The final sentence runs several clauses together without clear punctuation. Practise accurate passive forms for process descriptions, such as “the dough is mixed” and “the cups are sealed,” and check each sentence for a complete verb and clear boundaries.
