Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the process as manufacturing instant noodles and give a broad overview, noting that it begins with flour storage and ends with labelling and sealing. You also report several central stages, including mixing, forming dough and noodles, cooking and drying, and adding vegetables and spices. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the flour is transferred from the storage silos to the mixer, not transported by trucks after reaching the factory, and the noodles are placed in cups with vegetables and spices before the cups are labelled and sealed. The overview’s claim of “Four main steps” is not clearly supported, and several stages—such as rollers forming sheets and strips—are only briefly described. A more precise account of the sequence and a clearer overview would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has an identifiable beginning, overview and description of the production and packaging stages. Sequencing expressions such as “To begin with,” “after that” and “Now” help the reader follow the general order. However, progression is sometimes difficult to track because several stages are compressed into long sentences, particularly the account from mixing through cooking. The repeated use of “Now” and “then” also makes the linking mechanical, while references such as “it” in “they cook it” do not clearly identify whether this means the noodle discs or the dough. Organise the details into clearer stages—preparation and shaping, cooking, then packaging—and use more precise links and references to make the sequence easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “storage,” “mixer,” “dough strips,” “noodle discs,” “vegetables and spices,” and “labelling.” This gives the reader a basic understanding of the diagram. However, the range is limited and some word choices or combinations are inaccurate, such as “the mixer is made,” “the roller rolls it,” and “sale into the market.” Spelling errors, including “demostrates,” “fectory,” “strinps” and “machice,” also reduce precision and can make parts harder to understand. Aim for accurate process verbs and collocations, such as “flour is fed into the mixer,” “the dough passes through rollers,” and “the finished cups are ready for distribution.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the overall sequence can usually be understood. However, some sentence structures and verb forms are inaccurate, as in “this process has 8 steps starts” and “the storage of flour which then transfer.” These need a complete clause and consistent passive forms, for example, “The process has eight steps, beginning with flour storage” and “The flour is transferred to the mixer.” Agreement and articles also need attention in phrases such as “the noodle are packed” and “the cups.” Several sentences join many actions with few clear boundaries, which makes grammatical relationships harder to follow. Practise using accurate passive constructions and divide the process into shorter, complete sentences while retaining some varied sentence forms.
