Student answer (Band 5.0)
The illustration presents the procedures of instant noodles production.
Overall, there are 9 steps in manufacturing instant noodles. Flour is tranformed into dough strips and dry cooked. Then they are packed into the cups which are labeled and sealed in the final procress.
On the first step, flour is delivered by a truck and collected within silos. After that it is mixed up with water and oil within a mixer machine, transforming into dough. It is rolled by rollers and is divided into strips which later forms up to discs. Then, it is cooked with oil and dried.
On the seventh step, all cooked noodles discs are packed into the cups.Vegetables and spices are added in this process. And the last procedure, These cups are lebeled and sealed.
-dough strip
-noodle disce
-put into the cup

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the process as having nine steps and give a relevant overview, noting that flour becomes noodles and that the cups are labelled and sealed. Several key stages are also reported, including delivery to silos, mixing, rolling, cooking and adding vegetables and spices. However, the account is only partial: it does not clearly explain how the dough becomes sheets and then strips, or how the strips are formed into noodle discs. The final note fragments are not integrated into the summary. The response is also 14 words below the required minimum, which limits the detail available. To improve, describe each major transformation and the packaging sequence in complete sentences.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, with an introduction, an overview and paragraphs describing the early and later stages. Sequencing phrases such as “After that” and “Then” help the reader follow the process. However, progression is uneven: the account jumps from dough to strips and discs without clearly explaining the intermediate stages, and “On the seventh step” is followed by a separate fragment-like final sentence. The three notes at the end (“dough strip,” “noodle disce,” and “put into the cup”) interrupt the report rather than extending it. Organise the stages in order, use clear links between each transformation, and remove or incorporate these notes into complete sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “silos,” “mixer,” “rollers,” “strips,” “discs,” and “sealed,” so the reader can identify the main production stages. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “procedures of instant noodles production,” “forms up to discs,” and “packed into the cups.” Spelling errors in “tranformed,” “procress,” and “lebeled,” along with “noodle disce,” are noticeable and reduce precision. Aim for standard process collocations and accurate spelling: for example, say that dough is “rolled into sheets,” “cut into strips,” and “shaped into discs,” then “placed in cups.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple sentences and longer clauses, and most of the process remains understandable. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships unclear. For example, “it is mixed up with water and oil … transforming into dough” has an unclear subject for “transforming,” while “strips which later forms” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “And the last procedure, These cups…” is also incorrectly joined and punctuated. There are further problems with sentence boundaries, including “cups.Vegetables.” Practise forming accurate passive sentences for process descriptions, and check agreement, clause connections, capitalisation and punctuation.
