Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often agryed that many indidviduals beleive that advertising is extremly successful at presuading us to purchase items.Others people consider that advertising is so common that we no longer give attention to the billboards. In my opininion it does attract people's eyes at items.

Advertisement can be of various kind,it can be in the form of paper or in a big billboard across highway. The highly costing billboard does attract people in buying to items. There should be a strategy in portraying the objects. Advertisement has been the way of attracting customers since the old time. It is the most common way of getting peoples attention. All the organizations does advertisement for their business.

However it is also true that advertisement gets looked by and people just walk by it. It is in the way of portraying or expressing the advertisement. The big brands usually gets more attention because of

their name and value but the small organizations gets ignored. It can be seem normal to peoples who sees it daily and walk past advertisemnts even for big organizations. For example, there is a big billboard in my area but the locals just ignore it because it seems normal for them but the non locals do seem amaze seeing the advertisement.

In conclusion, there can be found both types of people who is attracted by big advertisement and also the people who just do not give any attention and just walk past right the advertisemnts. From my perspective, I believe it attracts people more than it does not.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a clear preference in the introduction and conclusion: you argue that advertising attracts people more than it is ignored. The discussion of billboards, brand recognition and locals becoming accustomed to an advertisement is relevant, and the local example helps illustrate the second view. However, the first view is mostly asserted rather than explained: for instance, the claim that costly billboards encourage purchases is not supported with a clear reason or example. The response therefore covers the task only partially, with ideas that remain limited and under-developed. To strengthen it, explain how advertising influences buying decisions and why repeated exposure may make people ignore it, then connect each explanation to your opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting the contrasting views, and a conclusion. The transition “However” signals the shift to the opposing view, and “In conclusion” makes the ending easy to identify. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from billboard cost to advertising’s history and then to organisations’ business practices without clearly linking these points. Several ideas are repeated, especially that advertising attracts attention or is ignored. Some references, such as “it” and “the objects,” are not always clear. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, develop it with an explanation or example, and use linking phrases only where they clarify the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “billboard,” “customers,” “organizations,” “brands,” and “attention,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or awkward, such as “gets looked by,” “attracting customers since the old time,” and “attracts people more than it does not.” Spelling errors—including “agryed,” “indidviduals,” “beleive,” and “advertisments”—are noticeable and sometimes slow reading. Some words are also repeated, particularly “advertisement” and “attention.” Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing influence and familiarity, and check spelling and collocations carefully. More natural wording would make your ideas clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the contrast introduced by “However” and the example beginning “For example.” Nevertheless, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence structure, agreement, articles and plurals. Examples include “Advertisement can be of various kind,” “All the organizations does advertisement,” and “the small organizations gets ignored.” The opening also contains a run-on sentence where the two views are joined without adequate punctuation. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they can make individual sentences difficult to process. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and plural forms, and separate complete ideas with full stops or appropriate conjunctions.
