Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people believe that advertising is very successful at persuading us to purchase items. While, others believes that marketing is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. Both views will be explained in the following paragraphs.
To begin with, In this modern world the technology has advanced and a lot of smart gadgets are now available that ease the work of human beings. Marketing or advertising is a major source to sell or to fame the products which is carried out by the companies or the individuals to promote it. Some people think that due to advertising it become very convinent for buyers to purchase the products they like it. For example, it became more easy for people to buy it on online platforms or website from any part of the world and a major benefit is people no longer to go physical shops or showrooms due to this it saves energy, time, money.
Furthermore, some people think that advertising is became so common that nowadays people no longer give attention to it because people promote it online and making posters and every sellers now advertise it and seeing daily ads can make person boring and less intersting in watching advertising. For example, clothing brands they promote every ads when they launch new design or new type of material and from that viewing it became more common.
In conclusion, advertising is important because it helps people to communicate and ease people to buy anything but should not be overpromoted.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You introduce both views and give a brief opinion in the conclusion, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the discussion is only partial: the first body paragraph mainly explains the convenience of online shopping, rather than showing clearly how advertising persuades people to buy, and the second view is supported with only a general example about clothing brands. Your own position—advertising is useful but should not be overpromoted—is stated, but not developed. The response also contains 241 words, below the 250-word minimum; the 11 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop each view with a specific explanation and example, and explain more fully why you hold your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting the views, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the essay. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from technology to advertising and then to online shopping, without making the link to persuasion explicit. Some connections are also awkward or incomplete, particularly the long sentence about avoiding physical shops. The repeated use of “people” and “advertising” makes the flow feel mechanical. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example directly to its main point, and vary referencing and linking expressions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “advertising,” “promote,” “products,” and “buyers,” which makes the subject generally clear. There are also attempts to express relevant ideas with phrases such as “major source” and “physical shops.” However, vocabulary is repetitive and several choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning less clear: “to fame the products,” “convient,” “boring,” and “less intersting” are examples. Phrases such as “people no longer to go physical shops” also show difficulty selecting natural expressions. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for persuasion and consumer behaviour, and check spelling and word forms. For example, use “raise awareness of products” rather than “fame the products.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a contrast in the opening and a reason-and-result explanation in the first body paragraph. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “others believes,” “it become,” “advertising is became,” and “people no longer to go physical shops.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable, as in “To begin with, In this modern world,” while some sentences run together without clear boundaries. These errors can make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, then build longer sentences from correctly formed clauses and punctuate them clearly.
