Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you mention both sides of the argument, the discussion is superficial and lacks the depth required for an Academic Task 2 essay. Your own opinion is stated, but it is not well-supported or clearly linked to the arguments presented. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and logical reasoning, ensuring that each paragraph contributes to a well-structured argument that fully addresses all parts of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay lacks a clear structure; it is written as a single block of text rather than using paragraphs to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, making the flow of the essay disjointed. Phrases like 'Yes of course' and 'yes, but' are informal and do not function as effective transitions. To improve, you should organize your essay into distinct paragraphs and use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'however', 'consequently', and 'on the other hand' to guide the reader through your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple terms like 'work', 'things', and 'people'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'advertising is the most popular work' and 'advertising adds'. The use of informal abbreviations like 'insta' is not appropriate for an academic essay. To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'marketing strategies', 'consumer behavior', 'ubiquitous', and 'persuasive techniques', and ensure that words are used in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'Some people says'), incorrect verb tenses, and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence construction. The misuse of pronouns and articles also hinders clarity. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structure, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and practicing the use of complex sentences with subordinate clauses. Proofreading for basic errors like capitalization and missing articles will also help improve your score.
