Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views regarding the effectiveness of advertising and the tendency for consumers to ignore it. However, the development of these ideas is limited. While you mention how advertisements influence purchasing decisions through catchy slogans and targeted digital marketing, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. Your own opinion is stated in the conclusion but is not clearly integrated or supported throughout the essay. To improve, ensure each body paragraph focuses on a single clear idea, providing more detailed explanations and concrete examples to support your position. The response is somewhat repetitive, and the final conclusion is quite brief, failing to fully synthesize the arguments presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is often weak. The transition between the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion feels disjointed. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'For instance' and 'To conclude', but the internal flow within paragraphs is often hindered by repetitive sentence structures and a lack of varied linking words. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'This proves us that it is not that people no longer pay attention', which makes the reader work harder to follow your argument. Improving the use of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas more naturally would significantly enhance the clarity of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'products', 'advertisement', and 'buy', which are repeated frequently throughout the text. There are some attempts at more specific vocabulary, such as 'vibrant' and 'influenced', but these are not always used in the most natural collocations. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and topic-specific vocabulary related to marketing and consumer behavior. Avoid repeating the same words in close proximity, as this makes the writing feel less fluent and less professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The advertisement... are been made'), incorrect article usage (e.g., 'The advertising is what makes us'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'it gets totally difficult to pay attention towards it'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction, correct verb tenses, and consistent subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy and overall control of English grammar.
