Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some individuals believe that advertisements play a significant role to persuading us buy products. While other think advertisements are so common in these days that we no longer attracted with them. Although, we don not pay attention to ads but it is still a major factor in the sales number of a product.
The old ways of marketing are so boring that they are not enough to convince customers to buy new items. The era of old methods of advertising is almost gone. Although, the posters and banners were the main source to attract customer and persuade them to buy things and services but, now it is failed. Customers are used to these ads So they do not create impulse in mind.
On the other hand, Contemporary methods of advertisements can tickle the mind cells and caught attention. Which results in buying goods. Companies are also spending a substantial amount of their marketing budget in producing innovative advertisements. They also hire an inspiring celebrity in their ads to draw attention of public. Consequently, it leads to selling more products to consumers. Artificial intelligence is emerging as a new and affecting method of product marketing. It generates a customize advertisement for target customer and shows it on its social media feed. It collects data from search and browser history. For, instance, I searched for running shoes on chrome. AI fetched data from it and show me shoes ads on all my social media accounts. Eventually, i bought it from a website.
I believe modern marketing techniques still persuade a customer to purchase products. It is due to their creativity and innovation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The first paragraph introduces the topic, but the second paragraph focuses heavily on why old advertising methods fail without fully exploring the counter-argument that people ignore ads. The third paragraph provides a strong, relevant example regarding AI, which helps support the position. To reach a higher band, ensure that both sides of the argument are balanced in terms of depth and that the transition between the two perspectives is more seamless. The conclusion is brief but clearly states your stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the other hand', 'Consequently', and 'For instance', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or misused, such as starting a sentence with 'Although' in a way that creates a fragment. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the flow between sentences feels slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used to connect ideas more fluidly would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'impulse', 'contemporary', and 'innovative', which are used appropriately. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'tickle the mind cells' (which is non-standard) and 'caught attention' (should be 'catch'). Additionally, 'to persuading us buy' should be 'to persuading us to buy'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and grammatical word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and prepositions (e.g., 'no longer attracted with them', 'it is failed', 'a customize advertisement'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences ending prematurely or containing unnecessary commas. Despite these errors, the meaning is generally clear throughout the text. To improve, the writer should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive versus active voice, as well as ensuring that complex structures are formed accurately.
