Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the modern world the population is massive. People are engaged in several work. Everyone wants to be better than others forming competition in the global. To be better everyone is advertising their products in the global economy. From My person opinion, advertising is successful at persuading consumers.

Some people consider selling their products without advertising in the global market or in local region. They either believe in God, or they have strong connection in the global market. Without the advertising their good there are fewer chances to attract customers. People often think to sell their product but considering while advertising.

For other people like me, advertising is the top priority to sell the products. Advertising can help the company to get familiar with market and the people buying the goods. While advertising they might consider trying the product which may later become their favorite. Through the advertising people have the name in their mind or sometimes they see the advertising product as standard product which encourage them to buy more. Furthermore, they might introduce those products to their friends and family members. For example, a friend of mine recommended me the lemon facewash which has good result for my skin and now it's my best facewash. Like that advertising can really be successful at persuading us to buy things.

At last, I want to conclude that advertising is the important parameter to be a successful product in the market globally or even in local areas. Without advertising, one cannot be successful for drawing the attention of the public.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The first body paragraph is somewhat confusing, as it discusses selling products without advertising in a way that is not entirely relevant to the prompt's focus on the effectiveness of advertising. The second body paragraph provides a personal example, which is helpful, but the explanation remains somewhat simplistic. To improve, you should focus on developing your arguments with more depth, perhaps by discussing the psychological impact of advertising or the saturation of media, rather than relying on personal anecdotes. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack the analytical depth required for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression between sentences is often weak. Some transitions, such as 'Like that advertising can really be successful', are informal and do not effectively link ideas. The use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the opening of the second paragraph which does not clearly introduce the opposing view. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of the argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'get familiar with' and 'have the name in their mind' are imprecise and lack the academic tone expected in an IELTS essay. There is an attempt to use some topic-related vocabulary, but it is not used with enough precision or flexibility to reach a higher band. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and academic vocabulary related to marketing and consumer behaviour. Avoid informal phrasing and try to vary your word choices to express your ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include incorrect article usage ('the global', 'the advertising'), subject-verb agreement errors ('advertising are'), and awkward phrasing ('Everyone is engaged in several work'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors such as pluralisation and preposition usage. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring they are error-free will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
