Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. While the ideas are relevant, they are under-developed. For example, the point about children pressuring parents is a good start but lacks sufficient elaboration to fully support the argument. The conclusion is also quite brief. To improve, you should aim to expand on your points with specific examples or explanations to meet the word count requirement and provide a more comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the logical progression is hindered by grammatical errors. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'do a work their brand'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would help to improve the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'purches', 'enimation', 'influncer', 'atract', and 'add' (instead of 'ads'). These errors sometimes make it difficult for the reader to follow your meaning. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations, such as 'give a presser' instead of 'exert pressure'. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary and focus on using words accurately in the correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The grammatical range is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentence structures. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement ('the advertising is attract'), article usage ('the advertising'), and sentence fragments. Many sentences are grammatically incorrect, which impedes communication. For example, 'they are used the celebrities' should be 'they use celebrities'. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex structures.
