Student answer (Band 6.0)

This essay discusses the adverse and positive effects of advertising. In the end, I will share the reasons why I suggest a balanced approach.

Overall, Advertising is most common in todays era but everything has both sides, they just want a strategic approach. If one thing go wrong don't feel demotivated, just change the way.

Nowadays, Social media is extremely important, it became a part of everyone's life. From child to parents, all are using social media. Make a attractive campaign, found what is trending and make necessary transformations. For instance, on Instagram you can run ads through famous influencers, they can give good reviews of the product, it encourages audience to buy. Initially running a campaign requires a good investment but once its done as intended, it will boost.

Some businesses run their ads on apps like YouTube, Spotify. Individuals utilize these apps for important purposes, like someone may be studying on a YouTube channel, they simply click on dismiss and move. Similarly on Spotify people are listening to their favorite playlists, so they considered these ads not interested. Furthermore, low quality ads are not appealing.

I hold the view to to adapt a balanced approach between these, sell the product with similar quality and quantity which have shown on advertising platforms. After that its crucial to select some highly demanding products keep the prices minimal in start. Meanwhile, make some attractive videos of your products and displays in public area of cities. Collaborate with influencers who have positive audience. Most importantly give some time and show some flexibility.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses both views regarding the effectiveness of advertising and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. The response focuses more on marketing advice for businesses rather than discussing the psychological impact of advertising on consumers, which is the core of the prompt. The introduction and conclusion are quite weak and do not clearly frame the discussion. While the task is addressed, the arguments lack depth and the focus drifts toward business strategy rather than the debate between persuasion and consumer indifference. To improve, ensure each paragraph directly answers the prompt's specific question.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often disjointed. Transitions between ideas are frequently missing or mechanical, such as the abrupt shift from social media to YouTube ads. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, which makes the flow of the argument feel fragmented. For example, the transition 'In the end' is not appropriate for an academic essay conclusion. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear topic sentence followed by supporting evidence. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a singular, clear focus would significantly enhance the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There is a reliance on basic or repetitive phrasing, such as 'good investment' and 'make some attractive videos'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural or misused, such as 'they considered these ads not interested' instead of 'uninteresting'. There are also minor errors in word formation and collocation. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to marketing and consumer psychology, and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('everything has both sides, they just want'), incorrect verb forms ('If one thing go wrong'), and punctuation errors. The use of articles is also inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction, particularly ensuring that complex sentences are grammatically sound, will help improve your score in this area.
