Student answer (Band 5.5)

There are allegations of people that advertisements are now have become so common and we no longer pay attention and there people defending by mentioning the level of attention it gave them and assuming that advertisements are extremely successful .

Advertisements have been a game changer for many entrepreneurs who wanted everyone to know about their product T.V. advertisements were one of the best approach it had a really good impact and even the channel owners were having a profit so this was actually extremely successful and even it is also successful in nowadays also like are getting advertisements everywhere for example in radios , at the start of the movies , in some tv shows , Instagram , and many other platforms.

Us being very busy doom scrolling on Instagram or any other platform and there are hundreds of advertisements popping up but we ignore them as we are doing some really important work and moreover even if we want to use any website for free there would we an infinitely many amount of ads which we use very frequently and also in the recent times there had been Subscription offers like where we some money to block advertisements and there have also been many ad-blockers and other alternatives .

In my opinion , there has been a downfall in advertisements because the extent of ad-blockers have increased.

In conclusion , i would like to say that advertisements have been a really blockbuster method of spreading information about their products but over time there had been a downfall .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding the success of advertising are somewhat repetitive and lack depth, relying on general examples like Instagram or TV. The counter-argument regarding ad-blockers is mentioned but not fully explored in terms of its impact on the industry. The position is clear, but the overall analysis remains superficial, preventing a higher score. To improve, you should provide more nuanced reasoning and specific evidence to support your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'and even it is also successful in nowadays also' is awkward and repetitive. Some sentences are run-on, such as the opening sentence, which makes the logical flow difficult to follow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the connection between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on informal or imprecise phrasing, such as 'game changer', 'doom scrolling', and 'blockbuster method'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'infinitely many amount of ads' and 'the extent of ad-blockers have increased'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or academic vocabulary limits the score. Focus on learning topic-specific collocations and more formal alternatives to everyday language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the extent of ad-blockers have increased'), incorrect verb forms ('advertisements are now have become'), and awkward punctuation. The opening sentence is particularly problematic, lacking a clear grammatical structure. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like tense consistency and article usage.
