Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views regarding the effectiveness of advertising and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention that advertising influences us through subconscious memory and convenience, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'pollution in their home' is a bit tangential and not fully linked to the core debate of whether advertising is persuasive or ignorable. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a clear, distinct argument supported by specific examples or logical reasoning rather than listing general observations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is often disjointed. Transitions are sometimes mechanical or misused, such as starting a paragraph with 'So' or 'And'. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally repetitive. For example, the shift from discussing the persuasiveness of ads to the negative impact of over-consumption lacks a smooth transition. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that each sentence flows naturally from the previous one to create a more cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'extremly', 'succesfull', 'Adversiting', 'awarness') and some awkward word choices, such as 'this items' (should be 'these items') and 'make list' (should be 'make a list'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat basic, relying on simple descriptors. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure correct spelling of common terms related to the topic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'They can affects you'), incorrect pronoun usage (e.g., 'your brain remember'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage to improve accuracy.
