IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many people think that advertising is highly successful for persuading them to buy things but some people not believe in this idea, due to there different perspective. Let see both persons view individually for this topic.
Persons age between 45 year to 55 year often use news paper for reading, advertisement company give many different products details on news papers front page that attract this age group people to buy things. they also do surveys that which kind of people buy which things according to that they will target the people. Many big advertisement company use the busy cross roads to advertise the products. surprisingly it will works and selling of that particular product also boosts, however it will be easy to manipulate people by targeting the audience & product with respect to their age.
But in other hand it is also true that advertisement is very common so, no longer people feels attractive towards it. Now days people need live demo of product rather then boring advertising. younger generation constantly browsing for their needs on internet they will find whatever they need and advertisement is not properly observed by them.
However if i have to give my opinion on this topic so, both are true but partially because this is totally depends on different age group of people the main reason is older one always get feel attracted but advertisement & buying the things while younger generation ignore this kind of adverting based purchasing & get attracted to buy anything using digital devices. so as per me this is 50-50 % true.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and relies on generalizations about age groups rather than a deeper analysis of the effectiveness of advertising. For instance, the claim that 'older one always get feel attracted' is a broad assertion that lacks supporting evidence or nuance. While the prompt is addressed, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack the depth required for a higher band score. The conclusion is clear, but the overall exploration of the topic remains at a surface level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'But in other hand' and 'Let see both persons view' are awkward and hinder the flow of ideas. The transition between paragraphs is somewhat abrupt, and the logical progression of arguments is occasionally disrupted by grammatical errors. While there is an attempt to use linking words, they are not always used with the flexibility or precision required for a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There is a reliance on basic terms, and some word choices are unnatural, such as 'no longer people feels attractive towards it' or 'advertisement company'. There are also frequent errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'adverting based purchasing'. The student struggles to use less common lexical items effectively, and the repetition of words like 'advertisement' and 'people' indicates a limited vocabulary range that prevents a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('advertisement company give'), incorrect verb forms ('it will works'), and missing articles or prepositions ('on news papers'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
