Student answer (Band 6.0)
Advertisements has become so common in recent years. Some people believe that advertisements often encourage people to buy things, while others believe that people buy things by their own choices instead of relying on advertisements. This essay will discuss both views before explaining why I believe that people are not fully dependent on advertising adds to buy things.
On the one hand, most companies use attractive advertisements and celebrity endorsements which encourage people to purchase items. As a result, advertisements are often successful in capturing customers attention. For example, the adds of luxury watches and purses are shown duting movies or anywhere, they often persuade people to purchase expensive items. In addition, some unknown products when show to people, making it easier for people to know the value and quality of products. Furthermore, advertising introduces new products to the market and provides information about their features, making it easier for consumers to understand their benefits.
On the other hand, before buying any product, people check online reviews and compare products confirm from their friends and family members. Therefore, this is not always the case that advertisements push people to buy products and services. For example, the quality of product is checked by people before buying clothes and footwear. Consequently, it is true that we no longer pay attention to it.
In conclusion, although advertisements play an important role to attract many customers, it is often not the same, people think before buying anything and want to check the quality of products and also recommendations from family and friends rather than relying solely on advertisements.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument that people ignore advertisements is supported by general statements about checking reviews, but it lacks depth or specific examples of why this happens in the modern digital landscape. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, you should aim to expand on the 'why' behind your points, providing more nuanced reasoning rather than just listing common behaviors. The task is addressed, but the depth of analysis is limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', and 'Consequently' to link sentences. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition in the second paragraph from celebrity endorsements to unknown products is abrupt. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'this is not always the case', which could be more precisely linked to the previous argument. Overall, the structure is functional and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'celebrity endorsements', 'luxury watches', and 'persuade'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and spelling, such as 'adds' instead of 'ads' and 'duting' instead of 'during'. The phrasing 'unknown products when show to people' is grammatically awkward and lacks lexical precision. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that your word choices are contextually accurate. Avoid repetitive phrasing and try to incorporate more academic vocabulary to enhance the tone of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally hinder clarity. For example, 'Advertisements has become' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'the quality of product is checked' (missing article). There are also issues with sentence fragments and awkward phrasing, such as 'it is often not the same, people think before buying'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
