Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address both sides of the argument, the discussion is superficial and lacks depth. Your position is stated but not consistently supported throughout the essay. The ideas regarding 'defected items' and 'women's interest' are somewhat tangential and do not directly address the core prompt about the effectiveness of advertising versus the public's tendency to ignore it. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. Paragraphing is not used effectively, as the text is presented in a single block, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'However'), they are often used incorrectly or in a way that does not logically connect the sentences. The flow of ideas is disjointed, and the lack of clear topic sentences makes it hard to identify the main point of each section. Improving your paragraphing and using a wider range of linking words would greatly enhance the readability.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'defected items' (likely meaning 'defective') and 'insure people to new things' (likely meaning 'introduce'). You rely on basic vocabulary, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise vocabulary related to the topic of advertising and business, and ensure that words are used in their correct collocations. Proofreading for basic word-choice errors will also help clarify your meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('advertisement play', 'most of people business are'), article misuse, and incorrect verb forms ('we all are get connected'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors that impede clarity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for achieving a higher score.
