Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 139 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While the essay attempts to address both views and provides a personal opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and the conclusion is missing entirely. The response is cut off mid-sentence, which prevents a full discussion of the topic. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure the essay is complete. The current length significantly restricts your ability to demonstrate the depth of thought required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some basic logical organization, with an introduction and separate paragraphs for the two viewpoints. However, the abrupt ending and lack of a concluding paragraph disrupt the overall flow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Although' and 'On the other hand', but they are somewhat mechanical. The progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that you use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly throughout the entire piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. There are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'advertising contents' instead of 'advertisements' or 'advertising material', and 'irrelevant casting' which is unclear in this context. You also use 'adds' instead of the correct spelling 'ads'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure you are using collocations correctly. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repetition and express your ideas with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'nobody give their attention' (should be 'gives') and 'people have became' (should be 'have become'). Additionally, there are punctuation errors, such as unnecessary commas after 'that' and 'argue'. The sentence structures are relatively simple, and the attempt at complex sentences is sometimes faulty, such as 'persuade what consumers buy'. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation rules. Practice constructing more complex sentences accurately to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
