Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is undeniable that advertisement become a pensive concern in this modern world. In this regards, some people believe that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things while others say that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. This essay will not only outline both views but also my opinion in forthcoming fragments with a logical conclusion.
To commence with, there are several reasons in favor of advertisement. First and foremost, is its power to connect with people on an emotional level. To explain it, large-companies often hire well-known public figures or celebrities to endorse their products, which captivates audiences and encourages them to associate these items with success. Secondly, this emotional connection often leads consumers to believe that acquiring the advertised product will enhance their lifestyle. Moreover, the constant bombardment of ads across various media channels creates a sense of familiarity with certain brands, leading to increased trust. For instance, a frequently advertised brand of shampoo is likely to enjoy better sales than a less promoted or local brand shampoos which positively effect them in competitive market.
Nevertheless, many argues that the effectiveness of advertisements has been greatly reduced due to saturation and growing consumer demands and change in taste and preferences. In today's world, people are constantly surrounded by marketing messages on television, online platforms, and even in public spaces. This constant exposure has led to ad fatigue, causing many individuals to either ignore or actively avoid these promotional messages. A clear example of this is the widespread use of ad blockers and the popularity of ad-free subscriptions on platforms such as YouTube. Additionally, wrong claims made in many ads have led to a loss of trust. Consumers have become more sensitive, realizing that many promotional promises are overstated, creates critical attitude towards advertising.
To conclude, there are several reasons why consumer no longer pay attention to advertisements such as false claims made in ads and customer become more sensitive and choosy while buying any product yet according to me advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as the mention of emotional connection and ad-blockers. However, the conclusion is somewhat rushed and repetitive, and the position could have been more seamlessly integrated throughout the body paragraphs rather than just stated at the end. To reach a higher band, ensure the personal opinion is clearly woven into the introduction and reflected in the topic sentences of the body paragraphs to create a more cohesive argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two opposing views. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Nevertheless', and 'Additionally' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'in forthcoming fragments', which sounds unnatural in an academic context. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, though some transitions between sentences could be more sophisticated to avoid a slightly mechanical feel.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items like 'saturation', 'captivates', and 'promotional messages'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'pensive concern' (likely meant 'pressing concern'), 'positive effect them' (should be 'positively affects them'), and 'creates critical attitude' (missing an article). While these errors do not impede communication, they demonstrate a lack of precision that prevents a higher score. Expanding your range of collocations and checking for word-form accuracy will help improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('many argues', 'customer become') and article usage ('in competitive market'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'First and foremost, is its power...', where the structure is disjointed. While you demonstrate an ability to use complex sentences, the frequency of these minor errors indicates that you have not yet achieved the level of control required for a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and article errors.
