Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is undeniable that advertising is becoming quite popular in the modern era. Some person believed that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things while few individual thought that advertisement is so common that we no longer pay attention to it.

To commence with,if any person want to open any new business or grow sales of his/her existing business there is one boosting method to unleash their potential which is advertisement. In the existing years every popular brand had reached their potentials through marketing some examples like red bull which conducts many stunts online and encourage people to set world records and thus done their promotions. Not only this brand there are several brands which focus on popular celebrities and pay them desirable amount so they can advertise for them.Like coca cola,a famous cold drink brand all around world have their branches in several countries. In India its brand ambassador is Diljit Dosanjh who had charged his desirable amount from company so he can advertise for them for a specific period but actually there is illusion in it.

Nevertheless, but there are some demerits of advertising.Sometimes a brand plays a same ad for major period of time and people saw same advertisement all a day and get bored because they not saw any changes in them. Some people use ad blocker and some of them buy membership of OTT platform where major ad plays.Secondly if we encouraged by the ad we first saw the reviews of the product ad the idea of buying it get flopped when we saw the review.Advertisement is good but some it put into problem because it can provide false statement which can cause a issue.

To conclude although there are several points which favor advertisement is beneficial because it boots sales and profit but sometimes it give false information

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, although the opinion is somewhat underdeveloped in the conclusion. The ideas regarding the effectiveness of advertising (e.g., Red Bull, Coca-Cola) are relevant, but the explanation of why people ignore ads is less detailed. The essay tends to over-generalize, and the conclusion is abrupt, failing to fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, ensure that the personal opinion is clearly stated in the introduction and consistently supported throughout the body paragraphs with more depth.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often hindered by awkward transitions and repetitive sentence structures. While cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'Nevertheless' are used, they are sometimes applied mechanically or incorrectly (e.g., 'Nevertheless, but'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the progression of ideas within paragraphs feels disjointed. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of the writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There is a reliance on basic terms, and some word choices are unnatural or incorrect, such as 'desirable amount' instead of 'substantial fee' or 'illusion in it' when referring to marketing strategies. Additionally, there are some errors in collocation and word form, such as 'boots sales' instead of 'boosts sales'. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary and focusing on accurate collocations would improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some person believed'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'people saw same advertisement'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several instances of missing spaces after commas and periods. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate better control over complex sentence forms and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips.
