Student answer (Band 5.5)

In these days, technology is escalating at an alarming rate so people have more options to see advertisements and its is really beneficial at persuading people to purchase things while other individuals think that’s it’s very common and do not pay attention to it. I will elaborate both views in following paragraph's.

To begin with, advertisement play an important role in individuals live because they love to see it online and on newspaper so they get more information of particular product which helps them to buy it.For example, in 2022 they survey was conducted regarding advertisement and a lot of individual were really enjoy advertisement and it’s really fruitful for them to buy things.furthermore, nowadays people have hectic schedule by dint of this, they do not have time to visit shops and spend too much time to get Knowledge so with help of the advertisement it easy for them to buy things through it due to this, people can save their time.

On the other hand, nowadays there are a lot of other apps like Amazon and many more so people buy things online more so few people assume advertisements are common in these days. Moreover, some people also think more advertisement are fake and they did not provide true information about the products so people waste their money so its very common due to this, they don’t pay attention on this.

In my viewpoint, advertisement is ideal because it really successful and people love to purchase things with help of this and got more information without wastage of time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding advertisements being 'fake' is mentioned but not fully explored, and the example provided about a 2022 survey is vague and lacks specific detail. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more concrete explanations or real-world examples. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments remain at a surface level, which prevents a more thorough exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is occasionally disrupted by mechanical transitions. While you use cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand', some of these feel forced or are used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'due to this'. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear; for example, in the second paragraph, it is not always evident what 'it' refers to. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally from the previous one will enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'things', 'good', and 'really', which limits the sophistication of your writing. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'escalating at an alarming rate' (which is slightly misused in this context) and 'by dint of this'. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise vocabulary related to the topic of marketing and consumer behaviour.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the essay contains frequent grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'advertisement play'), incorrect use of articles (e.g., 'they survey'), and punctuation errors, such as the misuse of apostrophes in 'paragraph's' and 'it's'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralisation, verb tenses, and the correct use of articles.
