Student answer (Band 5.5)

A group of people argues that advertising is significantly successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people believe that everything is advertised in todays life that's why we do not need to pay attention to it. This essay will discuss the both views before the conclusion of my perspective.

Many people believe that advertisment can encourge us to buy things that are even not necessary for us at the moment. The advertisement contains the detail of a product and it helps to attract the viewers. A classic advertisement can be enjoyable and it forced people to buy. In addition, companies spend more on advertising products and reach the large number of audience. For instance, if a brand is working much on advertising their products than the other brands but they offering the same product quality but the brand who advertised their items well will gain the more customers.

On the other hand, a community considers every organization is displaying their products online so we do not need to pay attention on such videos or posts. The reason behinde that the required items can be find anytime so watching ads are useless.

In my opinion, it is true that most of the advertisements attract us and encourge us to buy. There are multiple business who succeded just because of they displayed product in a classic way and reach many audience. admittedly, it is really common nowadays but some ads still cautch our attention.

To sum up, advertisements are always helpful to attract audience and persuading them to purchase the item. The vast variety of ads are avaible and it is hard to ignore all.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion, meeting the requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument that ads are 'useless' because items can be found anytime is a good point, but it is not fully explored or supported with concrete examples. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not add new depth to the discussion. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more specific reasoning or real-world examples, ensuring that each paragraph contributes significantly to the overall argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'For instance', and 'On the other hand'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences feels slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between the second and third sentences in the first paragraph is abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help improve the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'persuading', 'advertisement', and 'organization'. However, there are several spelling errors ('todays', 'behide', 'succeded', 'cautch', 'avaible') and some awkward phrasing, such as 'working much on advertising'. These errors do not generally impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common academic terms and try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations to express your ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('There are multiple business who succeded') and article usage ('the large number of audience'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. While you attempt complex structures, they are often faulty. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency will significantly improve your score.
