Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy the things , Other hand people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it . I am totally agree with people who says advertising make us to buy things .

I thinks it really works, that the people who says that advertising are persuading us to buy the things . Its totally works advertising make us to buy the things , Because advertising method is so unique that persuades people on buying things .

The second reason is advertising from the social influancers and the celebrities is attracting more people to buying this things. For example the advertising of watch is often to celebrity , Celebrity shows wearing watch on every occasion and that makes interest of more people in buying this watches. That types of advertising is more successful.

The other people who says that advertising is so common that we no longer to pay attention on it . I am little bit agree on this because some ads won t able to ignore that . Some ads are not more interesting that makes people boring and the people will ignore that and shows nothing interest on this product. That s why people thinks that ads are so common we no longer pay attention to it .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While you mention social media influencers and celebrity endorsements, the explanation remains superficial. The arguments lack depth and logical progression, often circling back to the same point that advertising 'makes us buy things.' To improve, you should focus on providing more detailed examples and explaining the 'why' behind the effectiveness of advertising, rather than just stating that it works. The conclusion is also somewhat contradictory and lacks a clear summary of the main points discussed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often inaccurate. Phrases like 'The second reason is' and 'The other people who says' are used to transition, but the logical flow between sentences is frequently broken by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to the main prompt.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic words like 'things,' 'buy,' and 'advertising.' There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'morely ads' and 'shows nothing interest.' The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. To reach a higher band, you need to move beyond basic vocabulary and attempt to use more precise, topic-specific language. For example, instead of repeating 'buy things,' try using terms like 'consumer behaviour,' 'purchasing decisions,' or 'brand awareness.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people who says,' 'advertising make us'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which makes the text difficult to read. The range of grammatical structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors. To improve, you must focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and correct verb forms, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for basic errors like 'I am agree' (should be 'I agree') is essential.
