Student answer (Band 5.5)
Advertising is a part of everyday life, appearing on television , website, social media and public spaces. Some people believe that is effective in persuading consumers to buy product, Whereas other argue that its presence means people have become less interested in it. In my opinion, many advertisement are ignored, effective advertising can still influence purchasing decision.
On the one hand, people are attracted advertising on favorites actors, celebrities and famous cricketers. Thus, companies often use emotional language, celebrities and special offers to make their products appear more desirable.
Moreover, online advertising can be targeted at groups according to their interest and searches. For example, a person search sports equipment may receive for running shoes. Therefore, advertising can have effect on consumer behaviour.
On the other hand, people are no longer notice them and ignore because they are not interested about advertising and also many advertising are not match real character. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear opinion. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the depth of the arguments. While the main points are relevant, they are underdeveloped. For instance, the argument regarding celebrity influence is mentioned but not fully explained or supported with a concrete example. Similarly, the counter-argument about consumers ignoring ads lacks sufficient detail. To improve, you must expand on your ideas with more thorough explanations and illustrative examples to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a more comprehensive grasp of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt at logical progression. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In addition' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the flow is sometimes hindered by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'people are no longer notice them'. The connection between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and the lack of length prevents the development of a more sophisticated structure. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, well-developed topic sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You use some relevant terms like 'persuading', 'consumers', and 'targeted', but there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'curios claims' (likely meaning 'curious' or 'dubious') and 'not match real character'. The repetition of the word 'advertising' also limits the lexical variety. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary and synonyms to avoid repetition, and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'advertising is effective in persuading consumers to buy product' (missing article), 'people are attracted advertising' (missing preposition), and 'many advertisement are ignored' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a stronger grasp of basic sentence construction and article usage.
