Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals argue that advertising is highly successful to convince customers to buy products, while others believe that advertising become so common to us that we are not interested in it. This essay intends to discuss both views. Though we give less attention to advertising, this system is very much successful to attract customers.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why people think that advertising is a very successful technique to persuade customers. Firstly, people are influenced by what they watch. So, for attracting customers advertising is a good method. It contains a lot of contents that appeal consumers. Thus, businessmen are very aware of it and they are producing high-quality contents related advertisements to make their products captivating to general public. By using advertising, manufacturers are earning a huge amount of profit. Nowadays, manufacturers are casting superstars and public figures to make their advertisement top-notch. while people watch that their idols are in the advertesement, they rely on the product. Therefore, the product become famous and sales increase as well. For instance, one year ago I watched an advertisment related to t-shirt and my favourite hero Sakib Khan was promoting the t-shirt. Then, I immediately bought the t-shirt, though it was very expensive. So, businessmen are very successful by using advertising.
On the other hand, those who believe that advertising become so common and people no longer pay attention on it give the folloowing reasons. Firstly, people have lost their interest in advertising becuase they have been watching advertisements since their chilodhood. So, when any new advertisement come to their newsfeed, they try to avoid it. Sometimes people use add blocker not to be distracted by advertising. Secondly, people become bored by watching similar contents and they do not get their quality contents in the advertisements. So, they try to ignore them. Another thing is that nowadays many advertisements are coping the previous contents which were very popular among people. Therefore, people pay no attention to them.
To sum up, though it is true that advertisements are losing popularity day by day from certain types of people, they are very successful to attract customers and very useful technique to the businessmen to enhance their profit.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the influence of celebrities and the use of ad-blockers. However, the development is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the argument about 'businessmen' and 'profit' is mentioned multiple times without adding new depth. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on the psychological impact of advertising or the specific reasons why consumers feel 'bored' with more sophisticated analysis rather than just stating that they are. The position is consistent throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', and 'Therefore' to link ideas. However, some of these transitions feel mechanical or slightly repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and avoiding the repetitive structure of starting every point with 'Firstly' or 'So'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the central topic of each paragraph is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'captivating', 'top-notch', and 'distracted'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'contents that appeal consumers' (should be 'appeal to consumers') and 'coping the previous contents' (should be 'copying'). The range is sufficient for the task, but you rely on some basic phrasing. Increasing your use of less common collocations would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'advertising become so common' (should be 'has become'), 'the product become famous' (should be 'becomes'), and 'any new advertisement come' (should be 'comes'). Punctuation is generally fine, but there are minor errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage throughout. To improve, focus on proofreading for these small but frequent slips, as they currently prevent the essay from reaching a higher band.
