Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued that some individuals say advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Others believe that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. I will discuss both views in detail.

On one hand, many people believe that marketing is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. They think advertising attract us to read or listen to it only when someone find it interesting or beneficial in order to purchase that thing. They believe it is due to the successful advertisement. Although it is mostly depends on advertisement, but also some person have keen interest to taste or enjoy the thing which is being advertised. For example, care sells are only due to physical result and activities in their adds and their products are really attractive due to the fact they their products result implement it in their advertising and successfully attract their customers.

On the other hand, many people think advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. They believe because lot of stuff regarding to advertisement is spread far and wide. They might face distraction from a particular advert because of huge similar stuff. Every business always uses advertisement in order to grew their sales so due large amount of information they are not able to select any item or to pay attention. For example, advertisement of consultancy in our country so people most probably no pay attention to such kind of advertisements because they are already familiar with these type of marketing.

To conclude, advertisement is may attractive sometime for many individuals, but people might no longer pay attention to it when there is huge stuff to look and understand. Personally, I believe that advertisement is successful only when they really advert according to the real results of different goods.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding why advertising is successful or ignored are somewhat repetitive and lack specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the mention of 'care sells' (likely cars) is unclear and lacks sufficient detail to support the point effectively. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, you should aim to provide more concrete, logical explanations for your claims rather than repeating the same general ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Although it is mostly depends on advertisement, but also' show a lack of control over complex linking structures. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'huge similar stuff' and the inability to pay attention is not fully articulated. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'care sells' (cars), 'adds' (ads), and 'grew their sales' (grow). The repetition of the word 'advertisement' throughout the text suggests a limited range of synonyms. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'marketing strategies,' 'consumer behavior,' or 'ubiquitous,' and ensure that your word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('some person have,' 'it is mostly depends'), incorrect verb forms ('no pay attention'), and awkward sentence construction. While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed with correct grammatical markers.
