Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Few people believe that advertising is very successful in support of purchasing goods. Whereas other individuals trust that advertisement is very common now and people do not pay any attentions towards it. In my view, advertisement play a vital role to introduce new products launched into the market along with option of multiple things while sometime it will cost you to spend more money on unwanted items.
On the one hand, nowadays promotional ads is very common for any brand and sharing more details about the item to the end user along with that keeping people into the trust of buying the products. For instance, in the past older people are not aware about lot of options related with available food items into the market to buy and they will end up purchasing the same brand all the time with limited awareness but with the help pf advertisement individuals have lot of options to compare and buy it with more efficient way. Furthermore, it helps in purchase of good products with various options.
On the other hand, recently people are more aware about the trap of promotions which land them to spend money on unnecessary items so they try to avoid it to secure themselves from expense. For example, study has been done by Oxford university on 100 individuals found the results cause of ads people are spending more money on items not needed which moving them to financial trouble in future and stress on their head. In solution of this, some people started avoiding these promotions to save money. Moreover, these advertisements are not giving true information about the product.
In conclusion, advertising is good at some extent when we need more information or option of items. Meanwhile its a trouble if you are not capable to control it for unwanted items. So, inhabitants have to behave smartly when dealing with promotions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The first body paragraph discusses the benefits of advertising, but the explanation is slightly repetitive. The second body paragraph attempts to support the view that advertising is ignored or harmful, but the reference to an 'Oxford university' study lacks specific detail and feels somewhat forced. While the task is addressed, the arguments could be more thoroughly extended with more nuanced examples to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In solution of this' or 'along with that keeping people into the trust'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more variety and precision to move beyond a band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'promotional ads', 'end user', and 'financial trouble'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'in support of purchasing', 'pay any attentions', and 'stress on their head'. The range is sufficient to communicate, but the lack of flexibility and the presence of errors in word formation prevent a higher score. More precise academic vocabulary would improve the overall quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('advertisement play', 'ads is'), incorrect preposition usage ('into the trust of', 'in solution of'), and awkward phrasing ('which moving them to'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar structures is noticeable. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement, article usage, and ensuring that complex sentence constructions are grammatically sound.
