Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both views and provide a personal opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient depth. For instance, the point about 'models and actors' is not clearly linked to the effectiveness of advertising. The conclusion is also incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence ('demwe'). To improve, ensure you fully explore each viewpoint with clear examples and maintain a consistent structure throughout the essay. You must also ensure the essay reaches the required length to allow for a full discussion of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'From my perspective', the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical or confusing. For example, the shift from discussing the benefits of advertising to the 'flip side' lacks a smooth logical flow. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that supports your overall position.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'things' and 'good/bad' concepts, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are also instances of awkward word choices, such as 'nourishing of the models' and 'impactful act', which do not fit the context of the prompt. Spelling errors, such as 'persuade' instead of 'persuades' and 'then' instead of 'than', also occur. To achieve a higher band, try to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to marketing and consumer behaviour, and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'people thought' (should be 'think') and 'It is also considers' (should be 'considered'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors, such as 'the reason we no longer interested to it'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex grammatical forms. Proofreading your work for these common errors is essential for improving your accuracy.
