Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, it is often argued that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things while other believes that advertising became so common that we no longer pay attention to it. This essay will discuss both views.
On one hand, people arguing that advertising is extremely significant involves a number of reason. Firstly, it increases awareness of products. People may get the information about new technology through advertisement. For instance, if a company launch new model of Smartphone with many features, people came to know about this through advertisement. Secondly, it helps consumers to make informed decisions. It provide information about tax and pay of country, encourages us to compare it with other companies. In addition, it boosts business sale by advertising its important products or events. It also creates employment opportunities. The demands of jobs for engineers, designers, and content creator etc. in advertising companies. Advertising is also essential at persuading us because it encourages competition. The companies should try to offer better quality products and affordable prices to attract customers.
On the other hand, some people also think that it is so common method that no one will pay attention towards it because people see countless adds on television, You-tube, Face-book, and on many other websites so, advertisement feels like ordinary and repetitive. It also includes that nowadays, people become familiar with advertising techniques. They know companies can exaggerate the positive qualities of products, that is why people do not trust blindly on every advertisement. In addition, consumers get a lot of information some it become overloaded and it is difficult for consumer to remember it, also there are now add-blockers and skipping option are available to people.
Conclusively, although some people believe that advertising is highly effective in persuading consumers to purchase products, others argue that its widespread presence has made people less attentive to it. In my opinion, advertising can still influence consumers, particularly when it provides useful and relevant information.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the role of advertising in competition and the impact of ad-blockers. However, some points are under-developed or slightly off-topic, such as the mention of 'tax and pay of country' which lacks clarity and relevance to the prompt. The development of ideas is generally logical, but the explanation of why advertising is 'common' could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, and the position is consistent throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'In addition', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'It also includes that nowadays'. Referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The progression of ideas is logical, and the essay maintains a coherent structure from the introduction to the conclusion, meeting the requirements for a band 6.5 or 7.0 level of organization.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, using terms like 'informed decisions', 'exaggerate', and 'overloaded'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'advertising its important products' (should be 'promoting') and 'do not trust blindly on' (should be 'do not blindly trust'). The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Spelling is generally accurate, though the hyphenation of 'You-tube' and 'Face-book' is non-standard.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('other believes', 'It provide', 'some it become overloaded') and article usage. While these errors are frequent, they do not impede the reader's understanding of the main arguments. The punctuation is generally functional, though some sentence structures are slightly disjointed. To improve, the student should focus on consistent verb conjugation and refining complex sentence constructions to ensure greater accuracy.
