Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on advertising and providing an opinion throughout the essay. The student states their position in the introduction and reiterates it in the conclusion. Ideas are presented with some supporting reasons and examples, such as the mention of iPhones, cars, and celebrity endorsements like actors or influencers. However, some arguments remain a bit underdeveloped or over-generalized, such as the brief survey reference ('a survey was conducted by a company named as a SKS in year 2024'), which lacks complete integration and analysis. Despite these limitations, all core components of the prompt are covered, placing this response comfortably at Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression divided into four standard paragraphs. The student attempts to use various cohesive devices to link ideas, such as 'First and foremost reasons', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude it'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, there are repetitive transitional phrases and punctuation issues surrounding cohesive markers, such as placing spaces before commas throughout the text (e.g., 'true that , advertising'). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points of view, but mechanical cohesion prevents the essay from reaching a higher band, securing a solid Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to incorporate less common items and topic-specific terminology such as 'endorsement', 'influence', and 'consumers' (though misspelled as 'comsumers'). There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'renound' instead of renowned, 'convence' instead of convince, 'favourit', 'advertistments', 'schedual', and 'lounched'. While these errors occur with some frequency and occasionally strain the reader's focus, they do not completely impede communication. The lexical range is minimally sufficient to convey the writer's arguments, aligning closely with Band 5.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional-like structures (e.g., 'if a advertisement of a gold ring which is done by a renound personality . Then the normal person always try...'). However, control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent sentence boundary errors, fragments, and subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'other people things that', 'some buy the things with are advertised', and incorrect spacing before punctuation marks. Many complex structures are faulty, and errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader. These recurring grammatical inaccuracies restrict the score to Band 5.0.
