Student answer (Band 5.5)

Few people think that advertising is successful at persuing people to buy things. On the other hand, people say that adversiting is so common that they no longer pay attention to it. Both are true to some extent. Because advertisment has the ability to attract people by telling them benefits and telling them how to use certain product. Similarly, there are people that skip the adds because they feel bored watching advertisments in row on Tv. In my opinion, advertising is extemely successful at seeking people's attention to buy things. In the subsequent paragraphs, I will explain the reason behind my statement.

Avertising is basically aiming for people's attention. Firstly, they make scripts and prepare to come up with a better plan on how to excute this. After that, with the help of team members and staff they shoot the video. Moreover, the main role is played by editors who put several effects and make video more fun to watch by every group of people. Basically, in the video there is the mention of ingredients and intoduction to application of the product. People see the advantages and are enaged to try the product as per their needs.

For instance, many people can't afford perscription by doctors on little things such as hair, tooth and skin care products. They see advertisments on social media people trying and suggesting a product. Furthermore, they search a product on browser and see if it contribtes to their concern. This way they got influenced easily and plan on trying an item.

On the contrary, there are people who do not concentrate on advertisments that much. Due to modern technology, it is feasible everywhere for example on youtube, instagram and apps like twitter. People scroll advertisments like any other add and do not show much interest in them. They only notice when the relevant product is neccessary to their needs.

In conclusion, advertisments has pros and cons nowadays but it is very successful at persuading people to buy things because they can try a new product and can see what thing is ava

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both the view that advertising successfully persuades buyers and the counter-view that people ignore it due to its ubiquity. You also present a clear personal opinion in the introduction. However, some ideas lack full extension and remain somewhat descriptive, particularly in the second paragraph where the production process of advertisements is detailed rather than focusing purely on the persuasive mechanism. Additionally, the conclusion trails off mid-sentence ("what thing is ava..."), which prevents full development of the final thought. Despite these lapses, the main requirements of the task are covered, leading to a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph-by-paragraph structure that attempts to address each facet of the prompt. However, cohesion is at times faulty and mechanical. For instance, the use of transition markers such as "Firstly," "After that," and "Moreover" in the second paragraph feels somewhat rigid and list-like. Furthermore, referencing and paragraph links occasionally falter, as seen in abrupt shifts between ideas and repetitive phrasing. Paragraphing is used, but transitions across paragraphs could be smoother to establish a more natural logical progression. This corresponds to the Band 6 descriptor.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as "ubiquity" (conceptually), "contribtes" (contributes), and "persuading". However, there are numerous lexical and spelling errors throughout the text, including "persuing" instead of persuading, "adversiting" and "avertising" instead of advertising, "adds" instead of ads, and "extemely" instead of extremely. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to restrict the score to Band 5.5, as they reflect noticeable limitations in control over less common lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though complex structures are often faulty or incomplete. For example, sentences beginning with subordinate clauses ("Because advertisment has the ability...") are left as sentence fragments without a main clause. There are also frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as "certain product" instead of certain products, "advertisments in row on Tv", and "search a product on browser". Although the meaning can generally be deciphered, the accumulation of grammatical inaccuracies places this performance firmly at Band 5.0.
