Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that advertising successfully persuades buyers and that it is too common to be noticed—while also presenting a clear personal opinion. Ideas are introduced and supported with everyday examples, such as checking function and price on phones instead of visiting shops. However, the development of ideas tends to be repetitive and somewhat simplified rather than fully extended. For instance, the discussion on how people ignore ads focuses heavily on skipping phone applications without exploring deeper psychological habituation. Nevertheless, all core requirements of the task are met satisfactorily, placing this response firmly in the Band 6 category.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable structure featuring an introduction, body paragraphs addressing both views, and a conclusion. However, paragraphing is somewhat irregular, with abrupt breaks and isolated sentences like the stray pipe symbol and incomplete breaks. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes faulty; for example, phrases like "As we know" and "As we discussed" are repetitive and mechanically applied rather than used to build smooth logical progression. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as ambiguous pronoun use ("checks its function... order it on our adress"). Logical flow is hindered by these mechanical links and the lack of sophisticated transitional phrases, leading to a Band 5.5 performance overall.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic ideas about shopping, technology, and advertising. However, the range is limited, and there is frequent repetition of words like "advertisement," "things," and "common." There are also noticeable word-choice and spelling errors, such as "now a days" (nowadays), "dailylife," "adress" (address), "intrested," and "persauding" (persuading). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score. The student attempts some less common vocabulary like "attracted towards it" and "platform," but lacks the precision required for higher bands, making Band 5.0 an appropriate descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The text demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty or run-on. For example, sentences often string clauses together with commas or missing punctuation, such as "So by the help of internet and other resources advertisement of things are in approach of anyone now a days." Subject-verb agreement errors are present, including "advertisement of things are" and "some people thinks." Punctuation is weak, with missing capitalization at the start of sentences and erratic spacing around periods. Although communication is rarely completely blocked, the high frequency of grammatical and punctuation errors prevents the score from reaching a Band 6, placing it firmly at Band 5.0.
