Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on advertising and providing a clear personal opinion. The writer establishes a position in the introduction and reiterates it in the conclusion. Ideas are presented and supported with examples, such as how social media ads help consumers learn about product costs and how massive video ads create global demand. However, some arguments lack full extension and rely on generalised assertions, such as the claim in the second body paragraph that companies are 'scaming' buyers or wasting money. While the main aspects of the task are covered well, the development of ideas remains somewhat superficial in places, placing this response firmly at Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two contrasting views. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'IN conclusion', but their use is occasionally mechanical and repetitive. Furthermore, referencing and logical flow are disrupted by frequent cohesion lapses, such as abrupt transitions and confusing sentence connections in the second body paragraph (e.g., 'This is because, now a days advertising a product is competition no body pay attention to it'). While progression is discernible, the faulty mechanical linking and referencing issues warrant a Band 5.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate for the topic, including words and phrases like 'persuading', 'massive', 'global demand', and 'competition'. However, there is a very high density of lexical and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'victorious' instead of successful, 'adverrtising', 'belive', 'powerfull', 'theres' instead of their, 'remeber', 'relase', and 'scaming'. These frequent inaccuracies and spelling slips limit the precision of the vocabulary and occasionally strain the reader, restricting the score to Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilising relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, subject-verb agreement, and article usage. Examples include missing capitalization ('i belive'), informal spoken phrasing ('as u know'), redundant expressions ('Because the reason is that'), and structural fragments or run-on sentences. While simple sentences are generally understandable, errors are frequent across complex constructions, causing some difficulty for the reader and aligning with the Band 5.0 descriptors.
