Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's rapidly changing world, this issue has become a matter of considerable debate. Some people believe that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. While on the other hand ,some argue that advertising is so common rhat we no longer pay attention to it.

First of all, there are several reasons for this. Nowadays, social media played an significant role in publicity. Some people placed different types of startagies such as 'buy one get one free' offers to promote their bussines. Furthermore, most of public attracts with these types of offers. Moreover, some indiviuals pays money to famous social media influencers for publicity. Those influencers make a special content according to the product. In result, public purchase those things and the owner of that product obtain huge profit.

However, there are also many causes for the advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. At first, some people placed some ads on social media platform for promoting bussines their aim was only persuading public to buy things. In contrast, people get boring to see same ads on daily basis. Whenever, they opened an app a same ad showed on the screen and they just skip them immidiatley. They were getting bored day by day.

In conclusion,my opinion is that this issue has both positive and negative aspects;however,i believe that the most effective approach is to consider the long term benefits for individuals and society. There are many arguments on both sides but i think advertising is very beneficial for good products.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on advertising and providing an opinion, although the stance is somewhat generic at the end. Ideas are presented, such as social media influencers and consumer fatigue, but they remain somewhat underdeveloped due to superficial explanations. Furthermore, the response suffers from a critical length penalty, falling just one word short of the 250-word minimum at 249 words, which restricts the extent to which ideas can be fully expanded. While the main arguments regarding persuasion and ad fatigue are acknowledged, the lack of depth and the under-length constraint limit the task response to a Band 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into four paragraphs, following a standard introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a basic attempt at logical sequencing, moving from persuasive advertising to ad fatigue. However, cohesive devices are often mechanical, repetitive, or inaccurate, such as 'First of all, there are several reasons for this' and 'In contrast, people get boring'. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is frequently faulty due to improper punctuation spacing and awkward transitions. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with pronoun usage and abrupt shifts between ideas, placing this criterion at a Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'influencers', 'publicity', and 'persuading'. However, there are frequent word choice and collocation errors, such as 'most of public attracts with these types of offers', 'people get boring' instead of 'bored', and 'In result'. Spelling and morphological issues, such as 'startagies' and 'indiviuals', also occur. While meaning is generally conveyed, the vocabulary range remains limited and lacks precision, fitting comfortably into the Band 5.0 descriptor category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writing shows a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures frequently contain errors. Punctuation and spacing issues are pervasive throughout the text, including missing spaces after commas and periods, as seen in 'world, this issue' and 'First of all, there'. Grammatical errors are frequent, such as tense and voice mistakes ('social media played an significant role', 'ads on social media platform for promoting bussines their aim was'). These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate weak control over complex sentence patterns, justifying a Band 5.0.
