Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on advertising—its persuasiveness and its ubiquity—while providing a clear personal opinion throughout the essay. The introduction establishes the dual perspectives and the conclusion reinforces the writer's stance. Ideas are generally well developed, such as the mention of data analytics, psychological triggers, and sensory overload in the digital landscape. However, the conclusion sentence appears slightly truncated or incomplete at the end of the first paragraph ('In my view, although contnus to exert...'), which slightly impacts the full development of the introductory position, but the overall task requirements are still solidly met for a Band 7.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay displays a clear logical organization and progression throughout. It follows a traditional four-paragraph structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs addressing opposing views, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used effectively, such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion', guiding the reader smoothly through the arguments. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Although referencing and flow are generally clear, occasional mechanical errors in spacing and punctuation slightly detract from the overall cohesion, keeping it at a solid Band 7.0 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary for flexibility and precision, employing less common terms such as 'desensitized', 'ubiquity', 'data analytics', 'sensory overload', and 'banner blindness'. There is good awareness of topic-specific collocation. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'campaings' instead of 'campaigns', 'contnus' instead of 'continues', 'prponents' instead of 'proponents', 'idia' instead of 'idea', 'baded' instead of 'based', 'endrosements' instead of 'endorsements', 'impuse' instead of 'impulse', 'barrge' instead of 'barrage', 'binlness' instead of 'blindness', 'ad blokers' instead of 'ad blockers', 'subtel' instead of 'subtle', and 'succwssfully' instead of 'successfully'. These frequent mechanical spelling mistakes prevent the lexical score from reaching Band 7.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied structures including relative clauses and conditional ideas. There are several good complex sentences, such as 'Modern marketing does not merely display products; it utilizes data analytics and psychological triggers to target individuals based on their specific media platform...' However, there are frequent grammatical and mechanical errors, including missing words or incomplete clauses (e.g., 'although contnus to exert'), punctuation errors, and minor agreement issues. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur with enough frequency to position this response comfortably within the Band 6.0 category.
