Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views—that advertising is persuasive and that it is too common to notice—while also providing a personal opinion. However, the ideas are under-developed, repetitive, and lack sufficient supporting evidence. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains only 189 words, falling well short of the 250-word minimum specified for Task 2. Consequently, the task response is only partially fulfilled, leading to a score of 4.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks clear logical organisation and adequate paragraphing. The introduction and body paragraphs run together awkwardly, and the transition phrases used, such as 'On the other side', are basic and sometimes mechanically applied. Referencing is frequently unclear, and sentences often end abruptly without proper closure, as seen in the final sentence which trails off incomplete. There is no clear overall progression of ideas, reflecting the features of Band 4.0 for this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The lexical range is limited and inadequate for a formal academic essay. The student relies heavily on basic vocabulary and repeats common words such as 'advertising', 'ads', and 'people'. There are frequent word choice and collocation errors, such as 'persuading the people mind', 'common thinks', and 'save side' instead of 'safe side'. Spelling and morphological errors are also prevalent throughout the text. These issues frequently strain the reader and fit the Band 4.0 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak, with a very limited range of structures used accurately. Most complex sentence attempts contain severe errors, such as 'due to this we cannot able to resist' and 'some peoples belives advertising is nothing more to them attention.' Punctuation and capitalization are frequently neglected, and numerous sentences are ungrammatical or lack necessary components, causing frequent difficulty and distortion of meaning for the reader.
