Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that advertising is very persuasive and that it is too common to be noticed—while presenting an opinion, although the stance is somewhat fragmented. The ideas are supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of Unilever conducting hygiene activities in schools. However, some ideas are repetitive and under-developed, particularly in the conclusion which trails off abruptly. The text meets the minimum word count requirement, but lacks full development in parts of the argument, which places it securely at Band 6.0 according to the task achievement descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by mechanical or faulty cohesive devices, such as starting multiple sentences with 'furthermore' or 'moreover' without smooth transitional links. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the abrupt ending prevents a fully resolved conclusion. Paragraphing is used, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs often stumbles due to run-on sentences and punctuation issues, aligning closely with Band 5.5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'manipulate', 'optimize', and 'fundamatal'. However, there are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, including 'indviduals', 'extermely', 'intial', 'Adevertising', 'craete', 'fundamatal', 'childrens', and 'persauding'. Word choice and collocations are occasionally awkward, such as 'act people thinking' instead of 'shape people's thinking'. These errors occur with noticeable frequency, although they do not completely impede communication, justifying a Band 5.0 score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('advertising play', 'companies craete') and run-on sentences that lack proper punctuation or conjunctions (e.g., 'We watch many advertising in our busy life on internet newspaper...'). Articles and prepositions are also frequently misused or omitted. While the meaning can generally be deciphered, the high frequency of errors across basic and complex structures points to a Band 5.0 performance.
