Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt regarding advertising being persuasive and also becoming too common, but the ideas are severely limited and under-developed due to the very short length. The student's response contains 103 words, which falls significantly short of the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, this heavily penalises the task achievement score. Furthermore, a clear personal opinion is missing, which is a required element of the prompt. While the student touches upon the concepts of brand popularity and viewer fatigue, these points are stated rather than extended or supported with appropriate examples. Overall, the performance aligns with Band 4.0 descriptors as the response is minimal and fails to meet the basic word count and content development expectations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The text is divided into four very short paragraphs, which shows some basic awareness of paragraph structure. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and logical connectors are largely missing or repetitive. Phrases like 'By advertisment we can' and 'whereas, we can see' attempt to introduce cohesive relationships, but they are used inaccurately and do not create smooth transitions between sentences. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical flow makes the overall arrangement difficult to follow. These features reflect the characteristics of a Band 4.0 level, where information is not arranged coherently enough to ensure smooth reading.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and restricted to simple terms such as 'products', 'market', 'brands', and 'advertisments'. There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, including 'geting', 'pupolarity', 'advertisment' (repeatedly misspelled), 'specialy', 'achive', and 'phyisically'. These lexical deficiencies and spelling mistakes occasionally strain the reader's understanding. While the student attempts to use terms related to the topic, the range is far too limited to achieve a higher band, corresponding well to the Band 4.0 descriptor for basic and repetitive vocabulary with frequent errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The student relies on very simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex formulations are frequently faulty, such as in 'Where user can get basic idea about that product and no need to go specialy in market'. There are persistent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('in market', 'get basic idea'), incorrect prepositions, and verb form errors ('Many of the big brands geting pupolarity'). Punctuation is also weak, with sentences starting with lowercase letters or failing to form complete clauses. Because the range of structures is extremely limited and errors are frequent throughout the short text, the grammar aligns with a Band 4.0 score.
