Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that advertising is often consider a extremely successful marketing strategy for persuading us to buy things. While some people believe that advertisting has become so much common and we no longer pay attention to it. This essay will discuss the both views and I will share my opinion.

Many advertisment are still succeed to attract lots of people to buy things. One of the reason behind this is hiring people's favourite celebrities or artists with highest number of fan following. For example: If Hania Amir works in any tv ads because of her popularity audience barely skip her ads. As a result it boost the brand marketing goal which increase the product sells to reach their brand to higher number of constumers.

On the other hand, sometimes people do not pay attention to advertisement due to two main reason. First, they don't find any famous artist in the tv ads. This is because when audience do not find their favourite artist face on first glance of the ads they feel its better to skip ads rather than watch whole add. Second reason, they don't find any new idea or story which grip their attention. Because many ads compaing just want boost in their sell they hardly work hard on their ads by bringing new ideas and thinking. As a result advertisments has become failed to attract their attenion and audience do not feel hisitation to skip their ads.

In my opinion, nowadays its hard to force people to watch ads due to extensive amount of ads. Brands should work on briging new story and ideas with audience favourites celebrities then they will love to watch their ads. In this way they can reach to the maximum audience.

In conclusion, No doubt advertising are still playing crucial part for making people to buy their product. Due to internet and social media it is very hard to ignore those ads, I would believe that brands social more focus on quality of their ads rather than quantity. because if audience find brand ads attractive instead of skiping they would definetly love to share those ads.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on advertising and providing a clear personal position throughout the essay. The main ideas are relevant and supported with explanations, such as the use of celebrities like Hania Amir and the lack of fresh concepts in advertising campaigns. However, some ideas tend to be slightly repetitive and are under-developed in places, preventing a higher band. For instance, the discussion on why people skip ads could be extended with more sophisticated societal or economic impacts. Nevertheless, the position is well-maintained from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion. This performance aligns comfortably with the Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different perspectives. However, coherence is occasionally disrupted by mechanical cohesive devices and referencing issues, such as starting a sentence with a fragment ('While some people believe that advertisting has become so much common and we no longer pay attention to it. This essay will discuss...'). Furthermore, transitional phrases are sometimes used repetitively or incorrectly, such as 'As a result' appearing multiple times in close proximity. Progression is generally logical, but the awkward phrasing and referencing errors place this text solidly in the Band 6 category.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting less common items such as 'persuading', 'marketing strategy', and 'celebrities'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'advertisting', 'advertisment', 'succeed' instead of 'succeed in succeeding' or 'successful', 'constumers', 'compaing', 'attenion', 'hisitation', 'briging', and 'skiping'. Additionally, collocation is sometimes awkward, as in 'highest number of fan following'. While communication is not severely impeded, these frequent lexical and spelling inaccuracies prevent the response from achieving a Band 7.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ambition with conditional-style phrasing and relative clauses, such as 'If Hania Amir works in any tv ads because of her popularity audience barely skip her ads.' However, there is a high frequency of grammatical errors and poor punctuation control, including sentence fragments ('While some people believe that...'), missing articles, subject-verb agreement issues ('advertising are still playing', 'advertisments has become failed'), and awkward clause structures ('I would believe that brands social more focus on quality'). These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a typical Band 5 level of grammatical accuracy.
