Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on advertising and providing an opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the student mentions that advertisements provide options and practical demonstrations, such as 'electronic gadgets and beauty products', but these points remain brief and lack deeper extension. The position is clear throughout, but the reasoning is often general and simplistic. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains 248 words, falling just short of the 250-word minimum. This slight under-length prevents the task achievement score from reaching a higher band, resulting in a score of 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, showing a clear overall attempt at paragraphing. However, progression is somewhat mechanical and limited. The student relies on basic cohesive devices and transitional phrases such as 'To elaborate', 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'To explain'. While these help structure the text, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the links between sentences can feel abrupt. For instance, the transition into the second body paragraph introduces 'adds became common ang people not pay attention nowadays', which lacks a smooth conceptual bridge from the previous paragraph. Overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow, but cohesion suffers from frequent inaccuracies and repetitiveness, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling errors such as 'popolar', 'advertise' instead of 'advertisements', 'adds' instead of 'ads', 'anythig', 'shedule', 'aware about this', 'sacming', and 'scaming'. There are also grammatical word-form confusions like 'advertising their products' used where nouns or different verb forms might be expected. The range of vocabulary is limited to everyday terms such as 'shopping', 'companies', 'products', and 'buyers'. Although attempts are made to use less common items like 'hectic schedule' and 'trust issues', the persistent spelling and word-choice errors occasionally impede communication and strain the reader, aligning closely with a Band 4.5 or rounded 5.0 performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as tense and auxiliary verb omissions ('advertising became very popolar', 'companies advertising their products practically', 'individuals are very busy in their hectic shedule and they prefer to avoid such adds because they aware'). Punctuation is also basic, and missing articles ('to watch adds on TV') are common. While the meaning can generally be deciphered, the frequency of structural errors and awkward phrasing means that error-free sentences are rare, placing this performance firmly in the Band 5 category.
