Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people think that buyers can be conviced to byt the products through advertisements. While some people think that due to huge number of adertisement people are no longer attaracted to the things being advertised. Here in this essay we will discuss both views and will take side of one.

Nowadays, companies spend a lot of their shares on the advertisemnt of their producats. In our daily life we come across a lot of ads while watching TVs, using social media and reading newspapers. The owners consider it an easy way to attract the cutomers and sell their products. Sometimes, they become very successful in acheiving their targets through this way. Many multinational companies like, Pepsi, Coka Cola are competing with each other in advertising their products and thus they gain huge profits by selling their products.

But, on may occassion people dislike the huge number of advertisements being showed while watching TVs or scrolling mobile phones. There are a lot of companies and a number of products they are selling, thus they need many ads to attract the buyer. Due to huge number of advertisement, people found everywhere, like watching news, matches, stadium is looks colorful due to ads, the jersy of the team is full of ads labels. Advertisements are now common and its failing to gain the attention of the people. Sometimes they become bored and complaint againts the huge number of ads.

From my perspective, advertisement nowadays are very common and its failing to grab the attention of the buyers. One other thing is, advertisments need huge amount, sometimes the company goes to bankrupt due to give lion share to the advertisemnt.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on advertising and presenting a clear personal perspective in the introduction and conclusion. For instance, the student notes that companies spend a lot on ads to sell products, while also discussing the counter-view that excessive ads cause annoyance and are ignored. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and lack deep extension. The reasoning remains repetitive, particularly regarding the idea that ads are everywhere and people find them annoying. While a clear position is maintained throughout, the development of arguments is restricted by basic elaboration and occasional lack of clarity, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, body paragraphs for each view, and the conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty or mechanical. For example, the transitional phrases used, such as 'Here in this essay we will' and 'One other thing is', sound unnatural and conversational rather than academic. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the links between sentences can be abrupt. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the text, but the internal logical progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by repetitive phrasing and inadequate cohesive devices, placing the response firmly at Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'multinational companies' and 'competitively'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors that detract from the writing, such as 'conviced' instead of convinced, 'byt' instead of buy, 'adertisement' instead of advertisement, 'attaracted' instead of attracted, and 'cutomers' instead of customers. Furthermore, phrasing like 'goes to bankrupt' and 'lion share' demonstrates issues with collocation and grammatical form. While these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the response from achieving a higher band, making Band 5.0 the most accurate descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as 'While some people think that due to huge number of adertisement people are no longer attaracted to the things being advertised.' However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors in article usage, pluralisation, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'due to huge number of advertisement', 'people found everywhere', and 'advertisement nowadays are very common'. Punctuation errors and run-on structures also occur. Although the meaning can generally be followed, the high frequency of grammatical mistakes means that error-free sentences are not in the majority, fitting the Band 5 descriptors.
