Student answer (Band 4.5)

It is often debated whether advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things or advertising is so common that we no loner pay attention to it. While advertisements provides useful information, I belive that sometimes leads to unnecessary spending to people.

One the one hand that why advertising is deliberately successful at persuading us to buy things because of influencers. Nowadays, technology is increasing rapidly where influencers are promoting products without knowing their background details and benefits. So, individuals are blindly following them and spending money on them. For example, a student who was using smartphone within his family budget after watching an advertisement by a famous actor attract him to buy new smartphone eventhough it is expensive. As a result, it leads to unnecessary spending on the items.

One the other hand that why advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it due to busy lifestyles. Kids who are still watching telivision daily advertisements will play during the movie they are repetition. are working more hours for higher salaries and becoming busier. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The student responds to the task only minimally, failing to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words as the response contains only 168 words, with 22 words copied directly from the prompt not counted. While both views and a personal opinion are briefly touched upon, the ideas are severely limited and under-developed. For example, the writer attempts to discuss influencers and busy lifestyles, but the paragraphs trail off and remain incomplete, especially the second body paragraph which breaks off mid-thought. The position is stated in the introduction, but the lack of sufficient length and development prevents a full exploration of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

Information and ideas are not arranged coherently throughout the piece. Although some basic cohesive devices are attempted, such as 'One the one hand' and 'For example', the logical progression breaks down quickly. Paragraphing is poorly managed, with the second body paragraph disintegrating into fragmented and disconnected sentences like 'Kids who are still watching telivision daily advertisements will play during the movie they are repetition.' Furthermore, referencing is unclear, and the text ends abruptly without a complete concluding thought, making the overall organisation weak and disjointed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, showing a limited range that struggles to convey precise meanings. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as writing 'advertisements provides' instead of 'provide', 'loner' instead of 'longer', and 'attract him' instead of 'attracting him'. Spelling mistakes and grammatical word-form issues, like 'telivision', cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical control that impedes clear communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of structures, with frequent errors that often distort meaning. There are multiple issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'advertisements provides', and faulty sentence construction, as seen in 'that why advertising is deliberately successful'. Punctuation and article usage are also problematic throughout the text. Complex sentence attempts are frequently faulty, leading to a high density of grammatical errors that disrupt the flow and make several sentences difficult to understand.
