Student answer (Band 5.5)

Advertising is now very common in modern age. Advertising is very crucial part in any marketing field. I have mix opinion for this statement which i discuss below.

To start with,we have seen a significant increase in the amount of advertising. Whether it is on media or social media platform. The main purpose of advisiting is to get attention of coustomers so that they buy that product. Advitising is very benefit for the brands to sale their products. Brands heir famous celebrities to promote there product so people are much engaged with this advertising and think to buy this product so this thing is in the favour of brands. Brands use strategies to show the effect of the product. They send messages to people and aware them with their new deals. Even if peole don't know it,these messages are repeated several times to brain wash the people so finally they go out to purchase it.

On other hand, some people think brands advertising the flop things. After watching alot of advertising people will see it as a daily routine and never take it serious. Watching same advertising on repeat people get frustrated. Some people choose to turn off the television or change the channel to avoid seeing and hearing advertising. Brands sends messages on repeat so some peole block there number so that they don't receive any message.

To conclude, advertising can be sucessfull in persuading people to purchase goods and services. Advertising are commonly seen nowdays, but not all of them fulfill their purpose. Advertising must be design and presented in good way to show people their proper benefit.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on advertising and providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For example, while the first body paragraph touches on celebrities and repetition, the arguments remain somewhat limited and lack deep extension or specific examples. The second body paragraph similarly introduces relevant concepts like consumer frustration, but these ideas are under-developed. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to fully extend and support each main point with more detailed explanations and well-developed reasoning rather than moving quickly from one idea to the next.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a concluding paragraph. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate the different aspects of the prompt. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'To start with,' 'On other hand,' and 'To conclude' are used, but referencing and linking within paragraphs are occasionally weak. Sentences sometimes feel disconnected, as seen in the abrupt transitions between ideas in the body paragraphs. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure smoother logical progression between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'significant increase,' 'celebrities,' and 'frustrated.' However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form throughout the text. Examples include 'advisiting' instead of advertising, 'coustomers' instead of customers, 'Advitising' instead of advertising, 'benefit' instead of beneficial, 'there' instead of their, and 'sucessfull' instead of successful. Additionally, phrases like 'the flop things' are too informal and imprecise. These lexical inaccuracies indicate a limited control of word formation and spelling, which keeps the response at this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at subordination and relative clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause some difficulty for the reader. Issues include missing articles ('in modern age', 'on media'), fragment sentences or comma splices ('Whether it is on media or social media platform.'), incorrect prepositions, and subject-verb agreement problems (e.g., 'Brands heir famous celebrities', 'peole block there number'). Complex structures often contain faults. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over basic grammatical structures, punctuation, and article usage while increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences.
