IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The question of whether advertisements are very successful to introducing a new product or advertisements are very usual recently and people do not pay interest on this has generated a considerable debate. While advertising has some certain merits, I am more persuaded by avoid ads and create some another ideas to upgrade sells because buyers are more interested in free gifts and various discounts option. The following discussion will consider both perspectives before explaining why I favour this position.
Those who support ads often argued that advertisements on tv programme make individuals distracted. The main justification for main justification for this is people watch a video or programme with their full attention. when a ad comes in front of them, they become angry For example, today at morning I was watching a video by amenta and a ad came to my screen I felt disturbed on that time. As a result that ad became very annoying for me and there were a negative view about that product due to that ad.
Nevertheless, I would argue that if the industries wanted to make their products popular they should use some creative ideas like playing a quiz or make some discount on their product. For instance, if the seller give a offer like buy 2 get 1 free they could easily increase their sells and also get the opportunity to intoduce their products with consumers. Another way of marketing is playing quiz and offer some gifts for quiz winners. Such as, they could hire some unemployed young peoples and train them about method of quiz and separate winners and serve prizes to them. They can I take some photograph and post them on social media platforms. By using these techniques a new comodity become popular among buyers without make viewers boring.
In conclusion, using digital and creative ways can make our life more easier thhan we think. Consequently, we always should maintain public response and their comments to be famour or make something famous.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear preference for alternatives such as discounts and gifts, and you include examples to support this view. However, the discussion does not fully address both sides of the question. The first body paragraph mainly describes how intrusive advertisements can be, rather than explaining the view that advertising successfully persuades people to buy products. Your opening also shifts from the task’s two stated views to avoiding ads and using other sales methods, so your position is not consistently framed around the question. The examples about a video interruption and a “buy 2 get 1 free” offer are relevant, but their effects are asserted rather than explained in depth. Develop the persuasive case for advertising, then compare it directly with your preferred approach.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Nevertheless” and “In conclusion” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, progression is uneven: the first body paragraph begins with supporters of advertising but then argues that ads annoy viewers, which makes its purpose unclear. The repeated phrase “The main justification for main justification” and the abrupt shift from quiz winners to taking photographs also interrupt the flow. Some linking expressions, including “As a result” and “Consequently,” do not clearly connect the stated cause and outcome. Give each paragraph one clear function, arrange supporting details in a logical order, and use pronouns and transitions only where their references and relationships are clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to marketing, including “discount,” “consumers,” “social media platforms” and “public response.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning difficult to follow, such as “very successful to introducing,” “do not pay interest on this,” “upgrade sells” and “make viewers boring.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “intoduce,” “comodity” and “famour.” These issues sometimes require the reader to infer your intended meaning. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and word forms carefully. Prefer natural expressions such as “persuade consumers to buy,” “pay attention to advertisements,” and “increase sales.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if the seller give a offer … they could easily increase their sells.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors can make the relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “Those who support ads often argued,” “when a ad comes,” “if the industries wanted,” and “a new comodity become popular.” Subject–verb agreement, tense consistency, articles and sentence boundaries need attention. Several sentences also run together, as in the personal example beginning “For example, today at morning…,” while capitalization after full stops is inconsistent. Practise accurate conditional patterns and review each sentence for a clear subject, verb, article and punctuation.
