Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is an ongoing debate that some masses believe that advertising is tremendously successful at inssisting us to purchase items while other school of thought reckon that advertising is so ordinary that we don't look at the advertisements. According to my opinion, I believe that both of the views are right to some extent.

To initate with, in this modern era we are addicted to technology and we spend a lot of time on our technology devices. So the advertisements start marking ads on mobile phones with help of internet and artifical intelligence. This attracts a lot of individuals when they saw something on the internet and a particular thing maybe on the trending on the social media this thing encourages us to purchase that item. Morever, we are busy sometimes we forget the things we want to have and suddenly when we saw the things advertising like ads on the billboards this also attracts us to buy the items.

On the flip side, as a group of floks reckon that now ads don't attract us. There are some reasons behind their this thinking as in this contemprary era we don't look towards the billboards as individuals believe that this may look childish and boring. Some people don't believe in ads they feel staisfy when they go to shop or outlet to buy their needy things. Nowadays fraud is also very popular in the world so people don't pay their heed towards advertisements and then they don't buy items as inspired through ads.

To sum up, I would say that to some extent advertisements attracts us to buy things as we frequently use our devices as well as social media which attracts us to buy various items.

I must say that the advertisements via billboards are very common now so some individuals prefer it bored.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and give a position: advertising can persuade people, while familiar billboard advertising may be ignored. The examples about targeted online adverts, trending products, and distrust caused by fraud are relevant to the question. However, the position is not fully consistent: the introduction says both views are right, but the conclusion mainly supports advertising’s influence and ends with an unclear point about billboards being boring. Several ideas are asserted rather than explained—for example, why people consider billboards childish, or how fraud changes buying decisions. Develop each view with a clearer explanation and make your final opinion directly compare the two.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Connectors such as “To initiate with,” “On the flip side,” and “To sum up” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first body paragraph moves from technology use to forgotten shopping needs without clearly linking the points, and the final sentence introduces a new, unclear idea after the conclusion. Some linking phrases are also repetitive or awkward, while references such as “this thing” are vague. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, explain it, and use precise references and transitions to show how each point relates to the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “artificial intelligence,” “trending,” “billboards,” and “fraud,” and some choices help convey relevant ideas. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “things,” “ads,” and “attracts,” and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, including “school of thought reckon,” “marking ads,” and “pay their heed.” Spelling errors such as “inssisting,” “initate,” “artifical,” and “contemprary” are noticeable and sometimes slow the reader. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and more precise terms for advertising and consumer behaviour; check spelling carefully and avoid using elaborate phrases when a simpler, correct expression is available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “while,” “when,” and “as,” but complex sentences are often faulty and errors occur frequently. For example, “other school of thought reckon” has problems with the article and subject–verb agreement, while “when they saw something” shifts tense in a general explanation. Agreement is also incorrect in “advertisements attracts us,” and the final sentence, “some individuals prefer it bored,” is grammatically unclear. Punctuation and sentence boundaries need attention, particularly where several ideas are joined in one sentence. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then check verb forms, agreement, and articles.
