Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views: the first body paragraph explains how product promotion and offers can encourage purchases, while the next acknowledges that advertising is now widespread. However, the second view is only briefly explained and does not clearly show how people have become less attentive to advertising. The examples, such as the chemical company’s conference and the supermarket’s offers, are not developed enough to demonstrate their effects. Your opinion appears only in the conclusion, where “a balance approach” is mentioned, but it is not explained or clearly connected to the discussion. Develop both sides with specific reasoning and state your position clearly in the introduction and throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is often mechanical: repeated patterns such as “One major reason” and “As a consequence” do not always lead to a fully explained point. The second body paragraph is especially short, so the discussion feels unbalanced and the conclusion’s reference to a “balance approach” is not prepared by the preceding argument. Build clearer links between each claim, its explanation, and its example, and use paragraphing to give both views adequate development.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “marketing,” “customers,” “cashback,” “strategies,” and “revenue,” so the reader can generally identify the subject of each point. However, the range is limited and key terms are repeated frequently. Several spelling errors, including “eassy,” “comodities,” and “posetive,” make the writing less clear, while phrases such as “marketing make people to buy things” and “companies sells increase” show inaccurate word choice or word forms. Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling carefully. For example, you could use “advertising campaigns,” “influence purchasing decisions,” and “sales increase” to express your ideas more naturally and accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including “This is because…” and “As a consequence…,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and verb forms occur frequently, as in “marketing make,” “companies sells,” and “companies… provide.” Sentence construction is also faulty in phrases such as “marketing is acttracting customers” and “marketing now very common,” where the required verb structure is missing or incomplete. Punctuation is often inaccurate, particularly the spaces before commas and the use of a comma where a full stop is needed. Practise building accurate basic clauses first, then extend them with subordinate clauses; check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries during proofreading.
