Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Many individuals believe that the advertisements is widespread that public pay no attention whereas other people think differently than that. In my opinion, I partially agree with the both views because sometimes advertising is influencial while sometimes its so repeated that people skips it.

Firstly I will discuss about effective of advertisement. Advertisement is becoming effective during the recent years. In today's world, almost every individual use social media, mobile phones - social apps. And people who recently started their business can easily access to the public by advertising their vendor. For instance, a model is doing commercial of perfume for a famous brand, it catch the attention of public, and they want to buy that and believes it is beneficial. Poeple follow trends through advertisement.

On the other hand, advertising is very much common now. It is almost everywhere.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You state a relevant, balanced position—“I partially agree with the both views”—and begin to discuss both the persuasive effect of advertising and its ubiquity. The example of a perfume model also gives some support to the first view. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the second view is introduced with “advertising is very much common now” but is not explained or supported, and your own opinion is not developed beyond the opening sentence. The essay also contains only 140 words, excluding 38 words copied from the prompt, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum. Develop both sides with explanations and examples, then make your conclusion clear.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure: an introduction, a paragraph beginning “Firstly,” and a contrasting paragraph introduced by “On the other hand.” These markers help readers recognise the intended discussion. However, there is no clear overall progression because the second side stops after two short sentences, and the essay has no conclusion to bring the argument together. Some links between ideas are also abrupt: the move from social media to a perfume advertisement and then to following trends needs clearer explanation. Build each viewpoint into a complete paragraph, connect examples explicitly to the main claim, and use a final paragraph to summarise your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “advertising,” “social media,” “commercial,” “brand,” and “trends,” so the reader can follow the general subject. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “catch the attention of public.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, including “influencial,” “effective of advertisement,” “advertising their vendor,” and “Poeple.” These errors make parts of the response less clear and reduce precision. Aim for accurate collocations and vary repeated words; for example, explain how advertisements “influence purchasing decisions” rather than relying on general claims about being effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a contrast in “I partially agree…” and the example beginning “For instance.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. Examples include “the advertisements is widespread,” “public pay,” “almost every individual use,” and “it catch the attention.” The sentence “And people who recently started their business can easily access to the public…” is also awkwardly constructed. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms, and build longer sentences around a clear main clause. More accurate control of these basic patterns would make your ideas easier to read.
